Trying to serve the whole community has always been an important focus of Ascension Lutheran Church’s ministry. As much as possible, Ascension makes its facilities available for important social ministries of the community. It even has a designated Community Room where some of these functions take place. Here are its current community based groups.
Community Ministry
A.A. (Alcoholics Anonymous)
Alcoholics Anonymous is an international fellowship of men and women who have had a drinking problem. It is nonprofessional, self-supporting, multiracial, apolitical, and available almost everywhere. There are no age or education requirements. Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about his or her drinking problem.
Meeting Times:
Meetings are held in the Community Room.
Monday: 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday: 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Friday: 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Saturday: 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Sunday: 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Greysheeters Anonymous
GreySheeters Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from compulsive overeating. The only requirement for membership is the desire to stop eating compulsively.
Meeting Time:
Meetings are held in the Community Room.
Sundays: 7:00 p.m. – 8:00p.m.
Al-Anon
Al‑Anon is a mutual support program for people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking. By sharing common experiences and applying the Al-Anon principles, families and friends of alcoholics can bring positive changes to their individual situations, whether or not the alcoholic admits the existence of a drinking problem or seeks help.

Meetings are held in the Community Room.
Thursdays: 7:30 p.m. – 8:30p.m.
